Employee Spotlight: Tim York

Job title:

Quality Inspector (CWI/ Level II in Magnetic Particle, Liquid Dye Penetrant, Ultrasonic Testing )

Years at ABW:

30 days (this time!)

What do you enjoy about your job?

I really enjoy the people I work with and the diversity of projects I get to be a part of. I left ABW for a period of time to explore other options in the structural steel and construction market. I returned because I really missed the camaraderie, dedication to quality, and sense of belonging I get here at ABW.

Do you have a favorite book, movie and/or TV show?

For TV shows I really like documentaries. Anything that has to do with space or the ocean I love to watch. When I was younger it was my dream to be a marine biologist, however I became an offshore diver instead. For books, I love to read, so any good novel will do.

What music do you like?

I grew up on country and rock ‘n’ roll. I still enjoy both but mainly stick with country music these days.

Do you support a particular sports team?

I know it’s taboo around here but I prefer the Mariners to the Seahawks. I also recently started going to Everett Aquasox games. They are a blast.

If I’m not at work, I’m probably...

home spending time with my family.

I just can’t live without my...

family. They are the reason I do everything I do.

Something you may not know about me is...

I love anything outdoors—fishing, hiking, camping, etc.

My favorite ice cream flavor is...

French vanilla

If I had a time machine for a day, I would...

go back and have a conversation with my mom. She passed away in October of 2010 and made me realize you should never let things go unsaid.

The car I learned to drive on was a...

1963 Chevy pickup. It was primer grey with a big ugly camper shell. She did have a 350 Chevy motor built by my dad, and would really get up and go. I loved that truck.

The best present that I’ve ever received was a...

recurve bow. I now have an archery range set up in my back yard. I love to shoot when I get all twisted up about something in life. It really helps to center me.

We're proud of our talented, hardworking team members.
